As my career wound down and it became time to put that desire into action, I became more and more involved with Western Colorado Writers’ Forum. “Colleen Story, a novelist, was the instructor at the first WCWF Writer‘s Night event that I attended.  She began by saying only eleven percent of writers make a living at writing. She taught writing habits and finding time for practice. She assigned topics and asked us to share. It was fun to hear the many sentences on the same topic. She closed by saying, “Accept critique but do not listen to criticism.” Other workshops included James Van Pelt, an author who offered insight on how to write short stories, and Cloie Sandlin, the editor-in-chief for the BEACON Senior News, who shared specific knowledge about being published. The happy hours are refreshing. I listened to two young writers with opposing views on artificial intelligence. Please join us and be part of the listening and sharing.”
